For
those who didn’t or couldn’t attend this major event in the Life of King’s
Park Parish Church an opportunity was missed to see how our Minister was
initiated. This included the Narrative of Events leading to the Ordination
and Induction; the Statement of Faith and Vows taken by the Minister; the
Signing of the Formula; the Prayer and Declaration of Ordination and
Induction; and the Right Hand of Fellowship from Members of Presbytery and
a selection of King’s Park Elders.
The
Congregation then gave their support and responsibility to Mrs Boyd and
Symbols of Ministry were presented by young people of the church - Bible,
Baptismal Water and Communion Elements. These proceedings witnessed by a
full Church with many representatives from the Reverend Boyd’s previous
Churches - a very popular lady - and were conducted by the Reverend David
Cameron, Moderator of Glasgow Presbytery, the Reverend Gordon McCracken,
Minister at Dennistoun New and the Reverend Roy Tuton, Presbytery Clerk -
Pro Tem and someone we all know.
Induction Social
Refreshments were then available although it took two of our halls to
accommodate the numbers. There were several bus loads of family and
friends there to support Sandra. After this, presentations were made to
Reverend Jack Drummond and to Reverend Archie Robertson, both very popular
men and justly complimentary speeches made by Lynda Young and Rosemary
Kidd.
New
Robes were presented by Douglas McLagan to Reverend Sandra Boyd who spoke
of the challenge ahead. Welcome was provided by Reverends Jim McNeill and
John Lloyd, entertainment from the Choir was led by Jonathan Buchan.
A Big
